About Me

My photo
Paramus, New Jersey, United States
No, this in not a blog about gardening in any way, but a journal of my journey to become a professional landscape painting artist. For years, I’ve given my paintings as wedding gifts without thinking of profiting in some way from it. I worked for 18 years at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC as a computer programmer. I have been a painter since 1990, coincidentally, when I started working at the Met. I watched Bob Ross do his thing on Channel 13 in New York and decided I could do this, too. I have no formal training. I incorporate Bob's wet-on-wet technique for sky and water. My subject matter is covered bridges, lighthouses, fishing village scenes, barns, etc. Maine, Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, Nova Scotia and Spain are some of the places I have painted. My style is detailed and sometimes people think a photo of the painting is an actual photo of the scene. I hope to continue and grow in this medium. I also like to cook & dance. I am also a committed Christian. I am taking commissions - painting your landscapes style photos or your vacation home. Prices on request. contact me - Jackmck@juno.com my website is www.artofjackmckenzie.com

Another art site invitation. Artsyhome.com and ending the library shows

The proprietors of Artsyhome.com saw my paintings on art-profiles.com and decided to ask me to post there. Registration is free, but to get the full effect, I'd have to pay 18.95 amonth. I'm going on there, but sticking with the free portion for now and only posting a few paintings for now. Ckeck out my page http://www.artsyhome.com/?cat&s=artofjackmckenzie I'm stopping the library shows, except the one for Montclair in September. Nice to be out there, but nothing in terms of sales. I did this for a year and it was interesting, but time to end it. Still, not sure who has seen me and wants more. Ya never know

  1. I'll have to check out artsy home, let me know how you like it! I didn't know you were doing Montclair, cool! I think I might've emailed them but they were booked. I hear ya about the library shows but they are fun to do & fun to have your art out in public. Down the line I would like to show my work in a cafe or something like that.

  2. Hello,

We're glad you checked out our site. Any feedback is much appreciated. We've done a lot of upgrades and will continue to do so. Also, it is now $14.95 a month to get a commission-free membership. Thank you for using ArtsyHome and if anyone has any questions about us they can email support@artsyhome.com for a speedy response.
